ID-100231423The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has revoked the accreditation of two towing companies and suspended four more for illegal towing activities.

MMDA chairman Atty Francis Tolentino issued on February 23 the revocation of accreditation of Mac and Paul Towing & Trucking Services and MCT Towing Services.

JARZ Towing Services, on the other hand, received a 30-day suspension for violating towing guidelines and making threats and using coercion.

“The operations of these accredited towing companies are being closely monitored by our agency to ensure that the public is protected from any kind of abuse,” Tolentino said.

Also suspended for 15 days was ARD Towing Services for illegal towing, harassment, and issuing threats.

Metal Gear Towing Services was suspended for 10 days and Fighter Towing Services for five days, both for illegal towing activities, imprudence, and negligent acts.

Truckers have been reporting a spate of illegal apprehensions by towing companies, especially during the implementation of the Manila truck ban.
