Asia Airfreight Terminal (AAT), the second cargo terminal handler at Hong Kong International Airport, set an 11 percent growth in throughput to 68,252 tonnes in December 2012 year-over-year.

 Export cargo registered 46,675 tonnes, up 13 percent compared to the same month in 2011. Import cargo volume was 20,622 tonnes, up 5 percent, and transshipment cargo surged 102 percent to 956 tonnes.

For the full year 2012, AAT handled 719,068 tonnes of cargo, a growth of 3 percent from 2011. Total export tonnage was 497,977 tonnes, representing a 4 percent hike. Total import tonnage increased by 3 percent to 214,677 tonnes, while transshipment volume amounted to 6,415 tonnes, a 38 percent drop against 2011.
