The Philippine government has launched an enhanced version of the e-Travel System, a unified digital data collection platform that integrates border control requirements of various agencies.

Launched on July 10, the enhanced system includes the generation of a single QR code for each passenger that covers the requirements of the Bureau of Customs (BOC), Bureau of Immigration, Bureau of Quarantine, Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), and Department of Tourism.

This allows for a more seamless clearance process, minimizing wait times, and reducing the need for multiple forms and checkpoints, BOC said in a statement.

Another key feature is the seaport/cruise form, which simplifies and accelerates the registration process at seaports and cruise terminals.

Launched on November 21, 2023, the E-Travel System is a unified digital data collection platform that integrates the border control requirements of BOC, BI, BOQ, and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. It is an integration of BOC’s Electronic Customs Baggage Declaration Form and Electronic Currencies Declaration Form into BI’s eTravel System.

The system was rolled out in all international airports in the country last May. Under the system, all arriving and departing passengers can now fill-out the electronic Customs Baggage Declaration Form (e-CBDF) and electronic Currencies Declaration Form (e-CDF), as applicable, using the e-Travel website or by downloading the eGovPH application within 72 hours prior to arrival into or departure from the Philippines.

BOC noted that since its inception in December 2022, the e-Travel system has been continuously improved.

As part of ongoing efforts, the Department of Information and Communications Technology has collaborated with BOC and DMW to establish key features, including the Customs Baggage Declaration Form, Currency Declaration Form, and the Overseas Employment Certificate.

“Ultimately, the system benefits multiple stakeholders by streamlining travel processes and easing airport congestion,” BOC said.

It added: “It advances inter-agency coordination by enabling real-time data sharing and enhancing the monitoring of travel flows. This improved data integration supports national security measures and aids in public health risk management by ensuring timely and accurate information for all relevant authorities.”
