Marcos appoints 2 transport officials
  • Two officials appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to the Department of Transportation took their oath of office on Jan 5
  • They are DOTr Assistant Secretary for Communications Hector A. Villacorta and Assistant Secretary for Maritime Julius A. Yano
  • Villacorta was a former Commission on Appointments secretary; Yano, an expert in international maritime law, was previously a consultant to the Secretary of National Defense

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has appointed two Department of Transportation officials.

Assistant Secretary for Communications Hector A. Villacorta and Assistant Secretary for Maritime Julius A. Yano, both lawyers, were administered the oath of office by Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista on January 5.

Villacorta, formerly the Commission on Appointments secretary, was also previously the chief of staff of former Senate Majority Leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto.

Yano, an international maritime law specialist, was a consultant to the Secretary of National Defense.

Villacorta took over from Leah Quiambao. Yano assumed the office vacated by Vice Admiral Narciso A. Vingson, Jr.
