Agencies led by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Clark and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized an illegal drug shipment of three 1000 ml bottles of tetrahydrocannabinol or marijuana hash oil that were said to contain ‘drinking tea.’

Estimated at P216,000, the illegal drug shipment of tetrahydrocannabinol was apprehended by the BOC in close coordination with the Customs Anti-Illegal Drug Task Force (CAIDTF), Enforcement & Security Service (ESS), Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS), X-ray Inspection Project (XIP) and PDEA, BOC said in a statement.

The shipment underwent x-ray scanning and physical examination upon arrival on May 9 from California, USA, which resulted in the findings of the three 1000 ml transparent bottles containing unknown liquid substance suspected to have illegal drugs.

The CAIDTF conducted K9 sweeping, which showed positive indications of illegal drugs, and field testing, which yielded positive results for the presence of “Mixture of HU-210 controlled substance: cannabidiol.”

Representative samples were then taken from the liquid substance and turned over to PDEA for chemical laboratory analysis. The analysis confirmed that the samples were “positive” for the presence of tetrahydrocannabinol/marijuana.

BOC district collector Alexandra Lumontad issued a Warrant of Seizure and Detention (WSD) against the subject shipment for violation of Sections 118 (g), 119 (d), and 1113 (f) of the Republic Act (R.A.) No. 10863, in relation to Section 4 of R.A. No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

On May 19, the combined elements of BOC and PDEA arrested the claimant in a controlled delivery operation in Paranaque City.

The Port of Clark will remain consistent to the anti-illegal drugs campaign of Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero and the continuous war on drugs of President Rodrigo Duterte.
