The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and Thailand’s Aerothai signed a deal to build, operate, and maintain new communication infrastructure in the Philippines.
The contract involves building, operating, and maintaining three very-high frequency (VHF) air-ground data link stations in Clark, Pampanga; Kalibo, Aklan; and Metro Manila.
CAAP Director General Capt. Manuel Antonio Tamayo and Aerothai President Nopasit Chakpitak formalized the agreement on November 26 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The new stations will enhance the existing network of seven VHF air-ground data link stations jointly operated by CAAP and Aerothai across the Philippines. The infrastructure is vital for ensuring smooth communication between air traffic services and airline operational control.
Aerothai (Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Ltd.), is a state enterprise under Thailand’s Ministry of Transport, that manages air navigation services and airspace.
“This agreement goes beyond technicalities; it reflects a unified commitment to excellence in aviation service delivery,” Tamayo said in a statement.
The project is part of CAAP’s strategy to modernize the nation’s aviation infrastructure, ensuring compliance with international standards and meeting the increasing demands of air travel.
