Cebu Pacific is moving its Masbate and Siargao flights at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to Clark International Airport (CRK) starting March 30.
The move is in compliance with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Manila Slot Coordination Committee resolution issued on December 3, 2024 to gradually transfer some turbo prop operations out of NAIA to secondary gateways, including CRK, starting March 2025 to help decongest the country’s main gateway.
In a statement, the low-cost carrier said it “recognizes the importance of managing airport capacity effectively, which will lead to improved passenger experience and greater public convenience.”
Starting March 30, the following Cebgo flights to and from NAIA will be relocating to CRK:
Masbate: From DG 6177/6178 (Manila – Masbate – Manila) to DG 6171/6172 (Clark – Masbate – Clark)
Siargao: From DG 6837/6838, DG 6839/6840, and DG 6841/6842 (Manila – Siargao – Manila) to DG 6759/6760 and DG 6761/6762 (Clark – Siargao – Clark)
Direct flights from NAIA to Surigao will also be cancelled and passengers will have the option to connect via Cebu.
AirSwift, now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cebu Pacific, will continue to operate at NAIA Terminal 2 until March 2026.
Passengers affected by the transfer will be notified in the coming days and will be provided with the options to either refund, rebook for free, or store in the travel fund.
DOTr undersecretary for planning and project development Timothy John Batan, during the recent episode of DOTr’s radio program “Sakay Na!” on Radyo Pilipinas, said that the directive to transfer 30% of turbo prop operations of airlines from NAIA to other gateways starting March 2025 is being conducted to allow more passengers to use the Manila airport.
He noted that the transferred turbo prop operations will be replaced with jet operations, which can carry more passengers.
In a statement, the carrier said it flew over one million passengers to and from CRK in 2024, up 36% or almost 300,000 passengers from the previous year.
The airline currently services 11 domestic and international routes out of CRK.
