IRIS Lines has introduced smart container services in the country in partnership with Loginno.
A provider of smart container technology, Logging on its website says it aims “turning shipping companies truly digital”, noting that “with a 100% IoT enabled container fleet, the selected shipping companies will be able to extract real-time data, unlocking countless logistics benefits.”
The technology is seen to help streamline operations, reduce delays, and enhance service quality, thereby offering clients visibility, IRIS Lines said in a statement.
The pilot project, the first time such technology has been applied to domestic container shipping in the Philippines, is part of Loginno’s industry-wide “The Contopia Factor 3” initiative, which aims to revolutionize the global shipping industry by creating a smart container data infrastructure.
Loggino explains ”contopia” as a “term used to describe a world where every shipping container is real-time IoT
connected.”
The project will undergo two phases.
Phase one focuses on providing visibility to shipping companies and their customers, while phase two envisions a broader application which integrates with government systems, port operations, cargo insurance, and customs.
The project was launched last August 8 with two 40-foot-laden dry containers from Manila heading to Cagayan de Oro on board the MV IRIS Paoay V.4185.
Capt. Igal Dafni, managing director of IRIS Lines, said partnering with Loginno “is a strategic move that aligns with our vision of leading the maritime industry in technological innovation.”
The initiative was the result of a collaborative effort between the Israeli Trade Office in the Philippines and the Department of Transportation.
