Laguindingan International Airport (LIA) recorded 337 flights per week as of May, its operator Aboitiz InfraCapital Laguindingan Airport Corporation said in a statement.

The development follows the April operational takeover by Aboitiz InfraCapital of the airport under a ₱12.75-billion public-private partnership deal signed in October 2024.

LIA is currently the sixth-busiest airport in the country and the second-busiest in Mindanao, next to Davao City’s Francisco Bangoy International Airport. It services direct flights to and from Manila, Cebu, Iloilo, and Davao.

Connectivity options have significantly improved for LIA passengers, particularly through the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), which offers 29 domestic and 13 international destinations, Aboitiz InfraCapital said.

MCIA, also managed by Aboitiz InfraCapital, serves as a key transit hub under two programs—Cebu Connect, which reduces layover times for domestic-to-international transfers, and CEB+, which links the airport to Mactan Wharf for immediate boarding to nearby island destinations.

Aboitiz InfraCapital began infrastructure upgrades at LIA in April, including installation of a new Flight Information Display System (FIDS) with enhanced visibility and accuracy. Future development plans include preparing the airport to accommodate international flights.

The company is also preparing to assume operations of Bohol-Panglao International Airport (BPIA), the ninth-busiest in the country, in June 2025. The ₱4.53-billion modernization project will cover terminal expansion, equipment installation, and upgrades to airside and landside facilities over a 30-year period.

LIA, MCIA, and BPIA form part of Aboitiz InfraCapital’s long-term strategy to build integrated airport networks and boost Philippine travel connectivity.
