Motorists using the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) are now paying higher toll rates, the Toll Regulatory Board said in a statement.
Effective March 2, motorists traveling within the open system (Metro Manila to Marilao, Bulacan) will see the following increases:
- P5 for Class 1 vehicles (cars, SUVs)
- P13 for Class 2 vehicles (buses, small trucks)
- P15 for Class 3 vehicles (large trucks)
For full-length NLEX travel between Metro Manila and Mabalacat City, the additional charges are:
- P57 for Class 1
- P142 for Class 2
- P171 for Class 3
The open system runs through Navotas, Valenzuela, and Caloocan to Marilao, Bulacan, while the closed system extends from Bocaue, Bulacan, to Sta. Ines, Mabalacat City, Pampanga, including the Subic-Tipo segment.
The toll increase accounts for deferred periodic adjustments from 2023 and an additional charge for the P7.7 billion Candaba 3rd Viaduct, which was fully opened in December 2024. The 2023 increase was divided into two phases to ease the impact on motorists.
Since its partial opening in August 2024, the new Candaba 3rd Viaduct has provided a safer and more efficient route for travelers between Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and Northern Luzon. By accommodating increasing traffic demand, the bridge is expected to further boost regional trade, commerce, and tourism.
Between 2021 and 2024, NLEX Corp. invested in key improvements to enhance safety and efficiency, including San Simon road elevation; Meycauayan exit expansions and the new F. Raymundo Northbound Exit in Meycauayan; revitalization of Balintawak Cloverleaf to improve traffic flow; and upgrades in roadway lighting, bridge repairs, and toll plaza enhancements for a better driving experience.
To further ease congestion and improve connectivity, two major projects are set to begin construction: NLEX-C5 Northlink (Mindanao Toll Plaza to Quirino Highway, Novaliches), this two-kilometer extension will reduce congestion along Mindanao Avenue, benefiting daily commuters; and the NLEX San Fernando to SCTEX (Subic–Clark–Tarlac Expressway) Spur (Mabalacat, Pampanga), its road capacity will be expanded from two to three lanes, lighting will be installed from San Fernando to Sta. Ines, and the Mexico interchange will be upgraded to a full diamond interchange to accommodate rising traffic volumes.
