Present rates charged by Oroport Cargo Handling Services, Inc. for providing other related cargo-handling services at Cagayan De Oro Port will stay the same, ruled the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA).

The decision is in keeping with Board Resolution No. 2860 dated November 26, 2019, according to PPA Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 03-2020, which will take effect on March 11. PPA said a proposal to increase charges was not approved by the PPA Board.

These rates cover cranage for both domestic (P450 per move) and foreign (P520 per move); unbagging (renamed from bleeding) at P64.65 per metric ton (MT) both domestic and foreign; bagging at P153.90 per MT for both domestic and foreign; and liquid bulk handling at P8.75 per MT for domestic and P10 per MT for foreign.

They also include gantry-crane handling (non-containerized cargo) of P250 per minute for both domestic and foreign; gantry crane (standby time) for P187.50 per minute; and opening/closing hatches for P450 per move.

Cagayan De Oro port is the busiest government port in Northern Mindanao in terms of cargo throughput. In 2019, the baseport handled 6.683 million MT or 2.5% of the total cargo throughput. This was, however, 7.8% lower than the 7.245 million MT handled in 2018.

Aside from being the entry and exit point of goods in Northern Mindanao, Cagayan De Oro also handles passengers and roll-on/roll-off ships.
