The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is waiving the collection of passenger terminal building (PTB) fee and roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) terminal fees for those involved in typhoon Odette response and relief operations.

Moreover, vessels used exclusively for response, relief, and reconstruction operations will have berthing priority and their entrance formalities will be waived, according to PPA in Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 23-2021 dated December 21.

MC 23-2021 provides guidelines on the provision of “prompt support to the government’s efforts and call to provide response, relief, and reconstruction to people and communities affected by TS [tropical storm] Odette”, the country’s strongest typhoon this year which has devastated Visayas, Mindanao, and some parts of Luzon.

The policy covers ships, vehicles, rolling cargoes, and passengers passing through ports under the jurisdiction of PPA as part of their response, relief, and reconstruction operations.

The PTB and Ro-Ro terminal fees for those involved in response and relief operations, such as drivers and their helpers of trucks carrying relief goods, will be waived for 30 days or until January 20, 2022. The waiving of terminal fee does not include the riding public.

On the operations side, all vehicles, equipment, and cargoes covered by MC 23-2021 will have priority loading and unloading. A special lane will also be provided for the processing of required documents and clearances, as applicable.
