AFAB launches vessel communication system

The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan launched on September 13 a high-tech vessel communication system that enhances port operations and streamlines communication between vessels and port authorities to guarantee efficiency and safety.

Developed in partnership with Northwind Communications and Electronics, Inc., the system is seen to enhance the management of vessel traffic and improve navigational safety within AFAB’s waters.

A live demonstration of the new system was conducted, providing a firsthand look at its capabilities in real-time vessel tracking and seamless communication between port authorities and maritime vessels.

AFAB deputy administrator for operations lawyer Michael Angelo Paderanga outlined the system’s capabilities and its expected impact on port efficiency, while Atty Lawrence Leo Pelaez, FAB Enterprise department manager, highlighted how the project aligns with AFAB’s mission to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.

AFAB administrator and CEO Hussein Pangandaman expressed pride for the completion of the initial phase of the project. He acknowledged the months of hard work and collaboration between AFAB and its external partners, expressing confidence in the system’s ability to significantly streamline port management.

The Bureau of Customs in a statement said the Port of Limay and the sub-port of Mariveles will support the implementation of the new system.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by district collector Atty. Kriden Balgomera, sub-Port collector Atty. Reynaldo Yacat, deputy collector for Operations Annuar Datudacula, chief for Administrative Division Atty. Sajid Jacalne, and district commander SP/MAJ. Ernesto Pracale, Jr.
