Global logistics provider Agility has opened a new branch office in Kuching, east Malaysia, to serve the multinational technology companies opening and expanding manufacturing operations in Sarawak.

Agility said it can provide international sea and air logistics, customs clearance, warehousing, and distribution services to local and international firms in Sarawak.

Located on the island of Borneo, Sarawak has a growing economy exporting timber, crude oil, liquefied natural gas, and pepper.

“The new office in Kuching provides Agility with a strong presence in this dynamic emerging market, where demand is growing for a wide range of logistics services,” said Mike Gildea, Agility’s chief executive officer of Southeast Asia.

“The Kuching office is also a key development for Agility as we build our domestic distribution across Malaysia. Sarawak is strategically located in the heart of Southeast Asia with good access to regional and global business centers.”

The Switzerland-based Agility has more than 500 employees across its Malaysian network and more than 41,000 square meters of warehouse space. It said it has been operating in Malaysia since 1985 and plans further investments in Sarawak and Sabah.
