AirAsia Philippines is expanding its Cebu operations with the launch of a new direct route to Bangkok, reinforcing its strategy to position the Mactan-Cebu International Airport as a key international gateway in the Visayas.
Starting June 11, 2026, the airline will operate daily flights between Cebu and Bangkok, with departures scheduled at 4:05 a.m. from Cebu and arrivals in the Thai capital at 7:05 a.m. Return flight leaves Bangkok at 7:35 a.m.
The flights will operate via Don Mueang International Airport, one of the major hubs of the AirAsia Aviation Group, providing passengers from Cebu with access to a wider network of connections across Asia.
Through Bangkok, travelers will be able to connect to 42 domestic routes across 25 destinations in Thailand and 60 international destinations served by the group.
The new route is also expected to boost inbound tourism to Central Visayas, one of the country’s most visited regions by foreign travelers. A review by the Philippine Institute for Development Studies reported that Central Visayas welcomed 31.5 million international visitors between 2000 and 2024.
“Cebu offers vibrant city life, rich historical heritage, world-class diving destinations, and stunning islands and waterfalls, making it a must-visit gateway in the country,” the airline said in a news release.
Since launching its Cebu hub in November 2025, AirAsia Philippines has expanded connectivity from Cebu with flights to Macao, Kuala Lumpur, Caticlan, and Davao City.
More flights from Manila
Meanwhile, the airline is also increasing international services from Manila to meet rising travel demand.
Beginning March 30, flights between Manila and Taipei will have five additional weekly services.
From April 3, services between Manila and Kaohsiung will add four weekly flights, while the Manila-Macao route will gain three additional weekly services starting April 4.
