End-to-end logistics solutions provider Airspeed International Corp. is expanding its operations in Cambodia with the signing of a service agreement with Bright Star Logistics Cambodia Co. Ltd.

Signed on September 8 by Airspeed chairperson and president Rosemarie Rafael and Bright Star managing director Michel Khaou, the service agreement entails management of international shipments, outsourcing of operations, and cross-trade under a profit-sharing model.

Airspeed, in a statement sent to PortCalls, said they see this first partnership with a Cambodian company as a “step towards Airspeed focusing more on the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region and not just seen as a local Philippine freight forwarder.”

“With Brightstar as our partner and local service provider, we will create wider reach catering to cargoes between Philippines and Cambodia, and shipments to the rest of the world on a profit-sharing agreement,” Rafael said.

Airspeed, a subsidiary of SM Investments Corp., will also be the consolidator for Philippine products to be sent to Cambodia and vice versa.

“Our vision is to expand across ASEAN, a region that is now the fourth largest in the world. We believe it can rise to become the third, or even the largest, if we collaborate and leverage the unique strengths of every nation,” Rafael said in a speech during the signing ceremony.

“Presence in other regions allows the Philippines not only to bridge gaps but also to seize opportunities that were once out of reach,” she noted.

She said the memorandum of understanding with Brightstar “opens doors not just between the Philippines and Cambodia, but also across the broader ASEAN community.”

“This partnership underscores our shared goal of creating stronger, borderless opportunities for businesses and professionals alike,” Rafael added.

Rafael represented Airspeed and the Women’s Business Council Philippines at the Philippines–Cambodia CEO B2B Networking Roundtable in Phnom Penh, held as part of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s  State Visit to Cambodia earlier this month.
