Air freight movements at Singapore Changi Airport declined in August this year, the second consecutive month that traffic slowed.

Freight volume dipped by 4.4 percent in August compared to the same month a year ago, the Changi Airport Group (CAG) said in an official statement on September 20.

Shipments passing through the airport during the month reached 146,400 tonnes. Month-on-month, Changi saw shipments fall further from almost 152,900 tonnes in July 2012.

For the first eight months of the year, cargoes handled have totaled 1.2 million tonnes, a drop of 1.9 percent from the comparable period last year, the CAG reported.
