Singapore-based APL said it is replacing its SZX service Ex Colombo with its AZX service beginning May.

The carrier, a subsidiary of Neptune Orient Lines, will launch the AZX route on May 24 with the departure of OOCL Oakland from Singapore. Its expected departure from Colombo, Sri Lanka, is May 28.

Unlike the SZX service, the AZX will not make calls in Charleston and instead will make a stop in Halifax. Also, the AZX’s expected times of arrival will change for Singapore, Colombo, Halifax, New York, Savannah, and Norfolk.

Transit time to New York will be two and a half days longer, a company statement said.

The last sailing on the SZX network will be the President Truman, which is expected to arrive in Singapore on May 16 and in Colombo on May 21.
