Aviation Partnership Philippines (Aplus) has opened a maintenance hangar at Clark, Pampanga on July 1. The development comes as the company, now offering line maintenance, will soon move into base maintenance work, offering airline partners a more comprehensive suite of aircraft maintenance services.

The facility is also a “signal to move in a larger expansion strategy,” APlus, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cebu Pacific, said in a statement.

Aplus general manager Rico Ugdoracion, in a speech during the launch, said the project is an “opportunity to support Cebu Pacific and its growth, to elevate the MRO [maintenance, repair, and  operations] industry in the Philippines, and to create jobs for Filipinos.”

With three new foreign maintenance authority approvals secured earlier this year, Aplus said it is laying the groundwork to serve more international carriers and take on greater maintenance responsibilities, with the new hangar being the starting point.

Early this year, Aplus obtained three additional maintenance organization approvals—from the Korea Office of Civil Aviation, Directorate General of Civil Aviation India, and the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.

Looking ahead, Aplus said its new facility is designed with scalability in mind. Plans are already in motion to extend its capabilities to include base maintenance for the Airbus A330NEO, directly supporting Cebu Pacific’s widebody fleet. This development will elevate Aplus into the ranks of the country’s full MRO providers, the company said.

Cebu Pacific acquired Aplus in November 2020 in a move to optimize operations in line with ensuring the airline is on a strong path to recovery. Aplus was established in 2005 as a partnership between Cebu Pacific and Singapore-based SIA Engineering.

Aplus serves 37 airline partners and expects to handle more carriers this year.
