Ayala Corp. will sell 40% of its logistics arm, AC Logistics, to A.P. Moller Capital, a unit of Danish transportation and logistics giant A.P. Moller.
The investment will help AC Logistics scale operations and strengthen offerings, Ayala Corp and A.P. Moller Capital said in a joint statement.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, Ayala Corp said the investment of A.P. Moller Capital, through EMIF II Holding III B.V., is subject to regulatory approvals as well as final subscription price.
The acquisition would address “the growing and increasingly more complex logistics requirements of a fast-growing economy by helping businesses build cost-efficient supply chains while contributing to greater food security across the country,” the joint statement said.
“A country of 7,000 islands requires considerable logistics infrastructure, and we would like to help address this need. Working together with partners like A.P. Moller Capital, we believe we can provide real solutions,” said Cezar P. Consing, president and chief executive officer of Ayala Corp.
For his part, A.P. Moller Capital senior partner Lars Reno Jakobsen said: “AC Logistics has, in a short period, grown to be an important player in the logistics sector in the Philippines. We are proud and looking forward to work alongside AC Logistics and Ayala Corporation to accelerate growth and continue to provide customers with market leading supply chain solutions – in short, doing well while doing good.”
AC Logistics president and CEO Erry Hardianto said the “potential transaction with A.P. Moller Capital reflects Ayala’s strong commitment to growing AC Logistics into an industry leader that will deliver high-quality logistics solutions for the Philippines.”
Hardianto, who joined AC Logistics last year from Maersk, added: “We are confident A.P. Moller Capital is the best partner for unlocking the many opportunities in this sector.”
AC Logistics, founded in 2021, offers customers integrated solutions centered around cold chain, contract- cross border- and project logistics.
Established in 2017, A.P. Moller Capital is a value-added infrastructure fund manager and is part of the A.P. Moller Group of companies spanning various sectors and industries, including shipping giant Maersk.
