  • George Barcelon appointed chairman of the Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc.’s (PHILEXPORT) Board of Trustees this year, replacing Paterno Dizon, who resigned due to health issues
  • Barcelon will serve as chairman until the next election in January 2022
  • Appointed as the new vice chairman is William Co, with Bernardo Benedicto III filling his former position as treasurer
  • Former Export Marketing Bureau director Senen Perlada is now executive vice president and chief operating officer of the PHILEXPORT Secretariat

George Barcelon has been appointed chairman of the Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc.’s (PHILEXPORT) Board of Trustees this year.

Barcelon, who was previously the vice chairman, replaces Paterno Dizon who has resigned due to health issues. Barcelon, who is also PHILEXPORT’s trustee for the footwear and leathergoods sector, will serve as chairman for the rest of the term of this year and until PHILEXPORT’s next election in January.

Replacing him as vice chairman is William Co, who is also the trustee for the associate sector. Taking up Co’s previous post as treasurer is Bernardo Benedicto III, who represents the metals sector.

Remaining as president is Sergio Ortiz-Luis, Jr., who is also representing the resource-based sector, while Luis Sicat, representing the fine jewelry and fashion accessories sector, will continue to serve as corporate secretary.

Senen Perlada, meanwhile, will be leading the PHILEXPORT Secretariat as executive vice president and chief operating officer. Perlada was formerly director of the Department of Trade and Industry-Export Marketing Bureau and executive director of the Export Development Council.

Other members of the Board are Francis Chua, automotive parts and accessories sector; Roberto Amores, fresh and processed food sector; Apolinar Aure, housewares sector; Oscar Barrera, chemicals sector; Myrna Bituin, furniture sector; Ferdinand Ferrer, electronics sector; Mina Gabor, tourism sector; Milagros Lacson, holiday decors and giftwares sector; Diana Santos, garments sector; Apolinar Suarez, non-metals sector; Jon Mykel Teodoro, information technology products and services sector; and Robert Young, textiles, yarns, and fabrics sector.

PHILEXPORT is a private non-stock, non-profit umbrella organization of Philippine exporters that is mandated to develop and promote exports under the Export Development Act of 1994.
