ID-10060370The Philippine Bureau of Customs (BOC) is temporarily allowing paper or manually processed permits in the National Single Window (NSW) due to some problems with the NSW system.

In a memorandum dated April 21 and signed April 24 on the subject “Acceptance of Paper Permits for Customs Clearance”, Customs Commissioner John Phillip Sevilla noted that over the past weeks, the NSW “has been encountering degradation in performance, severely affecting the processing of permits and licenses which resulted in the backlog of transactions for regulatory agencies and delay in customs clearance.”

To minimize inconvenience, Sevilla instructed concerned BOC personnel to accept paper or manually processed permits temporarily until the performance issue is resolved.

He said the task of verifying the documents will be done by customs examiners.

Processing of permits in the NSW system will be continued while the issue is being resolved.
