BOC beats Sept collection target by 28.4%
  • Customs revenue collections in September totalled 5 billion, 28.4% more than the bureau’s P61.9 billion target for the month
  • September’s collection also surpassed by 38.1% revenue collected in the same month last year
  • The January to September 2022 revenue totalled P638.7 billion, 17.8% above BOC’s target for the period and 35.9% higher than its collections for the first nine months of 2021

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) beat its September collection target of P61.9 billion by 28.4%, taking in P79.5 billion.

The September collections were 38.1% higher than the September 2021 revenue, BOC said in a statement.

From January to September this year, BOC collected a total of P638.7 billion, 17.8% above its target for the period and 35.9% greater than the collections for the same period in 2021.

Acting Customs Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz said he had been pushing all BOC offices and collection districts to sustain their “exceptional performance” throughout the year by taking advantage of the agency’s modernization program and enhanced reform initiatives, which are aligned with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s 8-point socioeconomic program.

For 2022, BOC has revised up its annual collection target to P721.5 billion from P679.226 billion initially. Ruiz had said earlier, however, that BOC’s internal target is higher at P740 billion and that the bureau is “on track to surpass it.”
