The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) of the Bureau of Customs-Port of Cagayan de Oro recently intercepted two container vans containing illicit cigarettes worth of P50 million from China.

The shipment consigned to LMRC 418 Direct Import Export Corp. arrived on February 14, 2021 at Mindanao Container Terminal in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental. Through the receipt of a derogatory information about the shipment, a Pre-Lodgement Control Order was issued by District Collector John Simon of the Port of Cagayan de Oro per recommendation of the CIIS.

Upon inspection, the shipment which was declared as furniture, was found to actually contain smuggled cigarettes branded as Marvels and Two Moon.

A warrant of seizure and detention has been issued for the shipment which will be scheduled for destruction.
