The Bureau of Customs (BOC) confiscated P4.8 billion worth of contraband during an operation in Binondo, Manila, on September 6, 2024.

Acting on a Letter of Authority, BOC operatives inspected storage areas and warehouses on the 3rd to 12th floors of a building in Binondo.

The search uncovered a wide array of items, including disposable vapes, branded clothing and bags from luxury labels such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Adidas, Nike, and NBA, as well as aerosols, character-themed school supplies with Hello Kitty, Spider-Man, and Disney designs, cosmetics, tools, and other general merchandise.

The operation, which secured all the seized goods, was conducted by a composite team from the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service-Manila International Container Port, Enforcement and Security Service-MICP, and the Philippine Coast Guard-Task Force Aduana, in coordination with local barangay officials and the Philippine National Police.

In a statement, Customs commissioner Bienvenido Rubio highlighted the agency’s dedication to enforcing customs laws and ensuring fair trade. “We will continue to strengthen our efforts and work closely with local government units and enforcement agencies to protect our nation’s borders and ensure fair commerce,” he said.
