ID-10011981The Philippine Bureau of Customs (BOC) said seven of its 17 collection districts and 16 of its 31 sub-ports exceeded their revenue goals in 2015 although this was not enough to reach its overall target.

In a press statement, BOC said seven collection districts—the ports of Surigao, Clark, Legaspi, Davao, Cebu, Iloilo, and Zamboanga—topped their assigned targets for 2015.

Of the seven, the ports of Cebu, Iloilo, and Davao showed the biggest improvement. Cebu overshot its P15.605 billion target by 5.9%, collecting P16.529 billion. Davao port collected P1.349 billion, or 9.4% higher than the P10.558 billion target. Generating the largest surplus was Iloilo port with P2.308 billion in collection, or 71% higher than the P1.349 billion target.

Meanwhile, 16 sub-ports under the agency collected higher than their assigned targets, and these are Sual, Baguio, Laguna, Puerto Princesa, Siain, Pulupundan, Dumaguete, Catbalogan, Nasipit, Bislig, Iligan, Ozamiz, Jolo, Tawi-Tawi, Dadiangas, and Mariveles.

For 2015, BOC collected P366.9 billion in revenue, 16% short of the P436.5 billion target set by the Development Budget Coordination Committee. For this year, the customs agency’s collection goal is pegged at P498.7 billion, which is 14.25% higher than 2015’s target.
