The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has intercepted 71.6 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, and 97 anti-anxiety tablets (Valium), with a total estimated street value of P660,000 and contained in various outbound parcels at a warehouse in Pasay City.

BOC Port of NAIA—coordinating with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Interagency Drug Interdiction Task Group—targeted for profiling six different packages from different consignees and subjected them to x-ray and physical examination.

Five of the six packages were found to contain sachets of white crystalline substances, while one contained Valium tablets concealed in books, speakers and documents. The parcels were turned over to PDEA for further investigation.

BOC said it remains vigilant in protecting Philippine borders and monitoring both import and export transactions.

In 2019, the agency seized P3.590 billion worth of smuggled illegal drugs, including shabu, marijuana, cocaine, and ecstasy, in various ports and airports in the country.
