  • The 2022 collection reached P42.876 billion vis-vis the target of P37.843 billion

The Bureau of Customs-Port of Cebu surpassed its revenue collection target in 2022 by 13.3% or P5.033 billion, a record achievement in its history, the agency said in a statement.

Last year’s collection amounted to P42,875,943,265.58 compared to the target P37.843 billion.

Revenues mostly came from imports of mogas, gasoil, iron and steel, rice, coal, ceramic tiles, coffee, LPG, frozen meat, and cement.

The second highest difference between target and actual collection was recorded in 2020 at Php3.261 billion.

BOC-Cebu has been hitting its collection goal since January. As early as November, it had already surpassed its annual target.

The port also exceeded its December target by collecting Php3.389 billion, adding to the surplus reserve.

Compared to 2021, the port posted a year-on-year growth of 33.08% or Php10.658 billion in revenues.

District Collector Atty. Elvira Cruz attributed the feat to the hard work of port personnel even as she thanked stakeholders and other government agencies for their support.

“Although we had projected a Php4 Billion surplus, high value imports were still coming even in the last few days before the year end. We see this as a telling indication of our recovering economy which we hope to be more vigorous this year,” said Cruz who also committed to surpassing the port’s assigned target for 2023.

Meanwhile, the subports of Mactan and Dumaguete also exceeded their annual collection targets and contributed to the aggregate revenue of the District.

The subport of Mactan under collector Gerardo A. Campo recorded a surplus of Php272 million against its collection target of Php1.262 billion.

The subport of Dumaguete headed by acting collector Gina Fatima S. Lasola, on the other hand, posted an excess of Php2.5 billion above its collection target of Php6.45 billion.
