BOC surpasses Aug collection target
  • The Bureau of Customs has already surpassed its revenue collection target of P58.849 billion for August with several days left before the month ends

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has already surpassed its August collection target of P58.849 billion with a few days left before the month closes, according to preliminary reports as of August 23.

The customs agency has taken in P60.524 billion, 2.8% higher than its monthly goal, Acting customs commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz said in a statement.

BOC noted it has been surpassing its monthly collection targets since January, and is poised to sustain its positive performance “through the implementation of its enhanced reform programs.”

BOC’s new seven priority programs for this year are zero tolerance for drug smugglers; increasing revenue generation; fully digitalizing Customs processes; eliminating agricultural smuggling; curbing gun smuggling; eradicating corruption; and boosting employee morale.

For 2022, BOC’s annual collection target is revised upward to P721.5 billion from P679.226 billion earlier. Ruiz earlier said, however, their internal target is higher at P740 billion and that they are “on track to surpass it.”
