President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. recently officially inaugurated the newest segment of the Cavitex C5 Link, promising a swift 15-minute transit between Parañaque and Taguig. The project arrives as a strategic buffer against soaring fuel prices triggered by ongoing volatility in the Middle East, offering motorists a way to bypass idling in traffic and burning expensive hardware.
The expressway is positioned as a vital logistics artery, linking the industrial zones of Cavite directly to the commercial heart of Metro Manila, a move expected to provide a much-needed boost to regional economic activity. It is expected to serve 36,000 motorists daily.
During the March 30 inspection, the President emphasized that the 7.7-kilometer expressway is more than just a convenience—it is an economic necessity. By diverting traffic away from saturated local roads, the link is expected to decongest the “chokepoints” of the south.
“This is a major development because it will decongest smaller roads. A trip that used to take an hour and a half will now only take 15 minutes,” President Marcos stated. “That is a massive saving in time for the commuter, and a huge saving in gasoline and crude oil.”
The project, a joint venture between the Philippine Reclamation Authority and Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation, creates a seamless corridor connecting:
- Taguig, Makati, and Pasay
- Parañaque (specifically Sucat and Merville)
- Las Piñas, Bacoor, and Kawit
Transportation acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez highlighted that the new segment specifically targets the notorious congestion in the Kaingin area. “Imagine, it’s 15 minutes now. It’s very timely given the current oil supply crisis,” Lopez added.
Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon revealed that the President has issued a directive to the Department of Public Works and Highways and Department of Transportation to accelerate the opening of additional road networks before the Holy Week rush.
