Cebu Pacific (CEB) added three new Airbus aircraft to its fleet, bringing its total deliveries for the year to 10.

The low-cost carrier received an A330neo on July 26, an A320neo on August 3, and an A320ceo on August 4, increasing its fleet to 85 planes as it gears up for expansion.

CEB president and chief commercial officer Alexander Lao said the airline is expanding its fleet to meet the increasing demand for air travel and to support requirements for route expansions.

The company said that the expansion aligns with its plans to launch new routes, including flights from Manila to Kaohsiung in August and Chiang Mai in October.

Additional frequencies to Cebu, Clark, and Iloilo will commence in October.

“Our continuous fleet expansion efforts underscore our commitment to providing safe, affordable and accessible flights to every Juan,” Lao said. “As the demand for air travel continues to rise, we are confident that we will be able to cater to more passengers looking to connect with other people or discover new destinations.”

In July, CEB signed a memorandum of understanding with Airbus to purchase up to 152 A321neo aircraft valued at $24 billion (around P1.4 trillion).

This historic order is the largest by a Philippine airline and includes firm orders for 102 jets and 50 purchase rights, ensuring the airline’s long-term fleet growth.

One of the youngest fleets globally, CEB currently manages nine A330s, 39 A320s, 22 A321s, and 15 turboprops. This extensive fleet allows the airline to service 35 domestic routes and 26 international destinations across the Asia-Pacific region.

For 2024, the airline has allocated P48.7 billion for capital expenditures, with a significant portion dedicated to aircraft acquisitions.

The airline is expected to release its second-quarter financial results soon, following a robust first quarter with profits soaring to P2.2 billion.
