  • 88% of the airline’s total workforce are also inoculated
  • Second doses are expected to be administered in the coming months, with the target of completing inoculation in October

Cebu Pacific said 90% of its pilots and cabin crew have now been vaccinated with the completion of the first wave of its employee vaccination program.

Second doses are expected to be administered in the coming months, with the target of completing inoculation in October, the airline said in a statement.

The vaccines were administered to over 700 Cebu Pacific employees at the airline’s headquarters in Pasay City from July 28 to August 4, 2021. To date, 88% of Cebu Pacific’s total workforce has been inoculated.

The airline’s vaccination initiative is part of the Gokongwei group’s COVID Protect Program, which covers free inoculation of employees and their dependents, as well as third-party workers. Cebu Pacific is a subsidiary of conglomerate JG Summit Holdings, Inc., which is controlled by the Gokongwei family.

Cebu Pacific said it has also been working hand-in-hand with various local government units to hasten vaccination for its workforce.

Last July 30, Cebu Pacific flew its very first flight manned by fully vaccinated pilots and cabin crew. It expects to fly more of such flights as the program progresses.

Earlier, the airline achieved a seven-star safety rating from airline safety and product rating review website airlineratings.com for its COVID-19 compliance. Cebu Pacific said it continues to implement a multilayered approach to safety as it endeavors to restore the public’s trust in air travel.

Moreover, the airline is also the official airline partner of Ingat-Angat, a private-sector led campaign that promotes safety measures and vaccination to help foster a nationwide economic recovery. To date, it has transported over 16.5 million vaccine doses from abroad to the Philippines, in addition to the over 5.5 million doses flown to 23 provinces across the country.

Cebu Pacific currently operates a domestic network covering 31 destinations, on top of its eight international destinations. It has a fleet of 74 aircraft, which includes two dedicated ATR freighters and one A330 freighter.
