With a planned P12.75-billion investment, the project is set to modernize Laguindingan Airport, enhancing passenger experience and operational efficiency, AIC said in a statement.
The project entails upgrading existing facilities, capacity augmentation, installation of required equipment, enhancement of airside facilities, and comprehensive operations and maintenance services.
The notice of award to AIC was dated September 23.
After the concession signing, it will take around four to six months before the Department of Transportation (DOTr) can officially turnover the airport to AIC as they have to comply with post-award requirements first, Transport Secretary Jaime Bautista earlier said.
AIC initially submitted a P148-billion unsolicited proposal in 2018 for the takeover of four airports, including Laguindingan Airport.
The company was granted original proponent status for the Laguindingan airport project in 2019. Last February, DOTr and CAAP issued an invitation for the submission of comparative proposals for the unsolicited proposal to modernize the airport. No comparative proposals were received.
In attendance at the ceremonial awarding were Secretary Bautista, who delivered the keynote address; Transport Undersecretary for Aviation and Airports Roberto Lim; AIC president and CEO Cosette Canilao; Cagayan de Oro 2nd District Rep. Rufus Rodriguez; Misamis Oriental 2nd District Rep. Bambi Emano; Misamis Oriental Mayor Diosdado Obsioma; and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines deputy director-General Danjun Lucas.
