Cortero moves to PEZA deputy role; Suyu takes MEZ admin post

Emmanuel Cortero is transitioning to his new role as acting deputy director general for policy and planning of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), marking a leadership change at the Mactan Economic Zone (MEZ) and Cluster 2.

Succeeding Cortero effective February 2 is department manager Arnel Suyu, presently MEZ department manager.

In a Facebook page post, MEZ expressed confidence in Suyu’s appointment and called for continued cooperation and support from stakeholders as he assumes responsibility for overseeing MEZ operations and guiding the zone’s next phase of development.

At the same time, the authority acknowledged Cortero’s leadership and service during his tenure at MEZ, citing his stewardship and commitment to maintaining operational stability and supporting the zone’s growth.

Cortero now takes on his new role at the PEZA central office, where he will oversee policy and planning functions critical to the agency’s economic zone development strategy.

MEZ, located in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, is a 150-hectare premier special economic zone featuring more than 200 locators and employing over 40,000 people. MEZ 1 is managed by PEZA, while MEZ 2 is operated by the Aboitiz Group, focusing on export-oriented manufacturing and logistics.
