The Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Cebu apprehended P147.7 million worth of undeclared, misdeclared and undervalued shipments in August 2020 as part of its continued anti-smuggling drive.

The seized shipments included rice, used engines, hotel sundries, and cigarettes, BOC said in a statement.

BOC-Cebu acting district collector Atty. Charlito Martin Mendoza attributed the feat to the coordination among the different enforcement and intelligence groups of the bureau and with other regulatory government agencies.

BOC said that upon forfeiture, some of the seized goods will be auctioned off immediately to generate additional revenues for the government, while prohibited or anti-social goods will be disposed of according to the law.
