Air cargoes handled by domestic carriers in the first nine months of the year grew 14.9% to 207.072 million kilograms (kg) from 180.227 million kg in the same period last year, according to data from the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB).
Of the nine reporting airlines in CAB’s list, four recorded increases, four had decreases, and one with no comparable data for the period.
Maintaining its lead amongst local carriers was Cebu Pacific, which shared 45.5% or 94.172 million kg of the total during the period. The low-cost carrier’s nine-month figure was also 23.2% higher than the 76.432 million kg reported in the same period last year.
Coming in second was PAL Express (PALEx), which handled 63.653 million kg or 30.7% of the total. It was, however, lower than the 66.1 million kg that it reported in the first nine months of 2024.
PALEx’s sister carrier, Philippine Airlines (PAL), on the other hand, posted a 98.4% increment to 27.484 million kg from 13.855 million kg last year. PAL accounted for 13.3% of the total, lifting its rank to third place this year compared to fourth in the same period last year.
In fourth place was AirAsia Philippines with 13.708 million kg, 6.6% of the total and down 7.9% from the 14.885 million kg it airlifted last year.

Air charterer Island Aviation, which accounted for 1.1% of the total, likewise saw a 3.2% decline to 2.198 million kg from 2.272 million kg last year.
Ranking sixth was boutique airline Airswift, which posted the biggest decline of 41% to 2.185 million kg from 3.715 million kg last year.
All-cargo airline Seair International, meanwhile, placed seventh with 2.037 million kg, 21.1% higher than the 1.683 million kg it handled last year.
Cargoes handled by eight placer Cebgo also increased 5.6% to 1.35 million kg from 1.279 million kg last year.
Air charterer Royal Air Philippines, which did not have reported volumes in 2023 to 2024, has recorded 285,953 kg for the first nine months of the year.
