All domestic flights will return operations to Terminal 1 of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) starting Oct 15 as domestic passenger traffic continues to increase.

All international flights, meanwhile, will operate at Terminal 2, MCIA said in a statement.

MCIA said it continues to experience increased domestic traffic with domestic demand now at 67% of pre-pandemic levels.

During the same period in 2019, the daily average number of both domestic and international passengers reached 35,000, MCIA said.

The airport continues to see increased traffic from South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan.

In the next few months, passenger traffic would even grow faster when flights from Hong Kong and China resume, MCIA said.

Departing domestic flights were transferred to Terminal 2 on January 16, 2022, after Terminal 1 needed to be closed for repairs to damages it sustained when Typhoon Odette hit the area last December.
