DOTr completes P6.6B airport development projects

  • The Department of Transportation has completed no less than 48 airport development projects with a total cost of P6.6 billion
  • Some of the airports improved and rehabilitated are Vigan Airport, Davao International Airport, General Santos Airport, and Butuan Airport
  • Others with completed upgrades include Laoag International, Basco, Cauayan, Palanan, Busuanga, Cuyo, and Bacolod-Silay airports

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has completed no less than 48 airport development projects with a total cost of P6.6 billion.

Significant developments include the construction of new facilities at Vigan Airport, completion of phase 1 of the parallel taxiway at Davao International Airport, rehabilitation of the passenger terminal and other facilities at General Santos Airport, and the expansion of the passenger terminal at Butuan Airport.

Other airports that have seen completed upgrades include Laoag International Airport, Basco Airport, Cauayan Airport, Palanan Airport, Busuanga Airport, Cuyo Airport, and Bacolod-Silay Airport, among others.

DOTr said these projects aim to provide Filipinos with a “more comfortable, accessible, safe, sustainable, (and) affordable” travel experience.

It added these are in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to improve the quality of airports in the country under the “Bagong Pilipinas” vision and DOTr’s commitment to enhance the country’s transport infrastructure.
