DP World for the first time acquired 47,000 containers that have been registered and branded to the company.

The new containers will raise DP World’s cargo capacity and ability to respond quickly as well as flexibly to its customers’ needs.

“In today’s increasingly complex and competitive commercial environment, supply chains are under growing pressure,” said Ganesh Raj, global chief operating officer for marine services at DP World, in a statement.

Raj added that “the injection of 47,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) into the existing ecosystem of DP World-owned assets will help our customers access the capacity they need, safe in the knowledge that their goods will be moved from end to end with a single partner.”

DP World customers will now have seamless access to critical container capacity, “ensuring that even during periods of peak demand or unexpected disruptions, they have the ability to keep goods moving,” the company said in a statement.

Control over delivery schedules have been enhanced, thereby minimizing risk of delays, it also said. This makes their supply chains more resilient and responsive in today’s fast-paced environment.

The acquisition is part of the company’s fleet renewal strategy, underscoring its commitment to provide its customers with reliable and efficient equipment.

A younger fleet translates to lower maintenance needs, reducing operating costs. The savings are then passed on to customers, said the company.

The company’s assets span the full, multimodal supply chain. Spread across 78 countries in six continents are vessels, ports and terminals, economic zones, warehouse facilities, and specialist pharma grade cold storage centers, electric shuttle carriers, HVO trucks, and digital wallets are covered by such assets.
