DP World expands APAC presence with 51 new offices
  • DP World expanded its Asia Pacific region presence by opening 51 freight forwarding offices
  • The development is the latest in DP World’s expansion into end-to-end logistics with APAC, considered the largest and fastest growing region for outsourced logistics

DP World expanded its Asia Pacific (APAC) presence with the inauguration of 51 new freight forwarding offices across the region.

APAC is considered the world’s fastest-growing logistics market. By 2027, the region is expected to account for 40% of global revenues for contract logistics services.

In terms of exports and imports, the region is also the fastest growing worldwide, at more than 5% growth each.

Focusing on air and ocean freight, the expanded network is backed by DP World’s wide infrastructure network — from ports and terminals, to warehouses, trucks, rail and vessels — allowing businesses to streamline their supply chains, the company said.

“Global trade is in the midst of an unprecedented era of flux in the face of growing geopolitical and economic uncertainty,” said DP World CEO and managing director, Asia Pacific, Glen Hilton.

He added the company has “an opportunity to help businesses navigate increasingly complex supply chains, as they seek enhanced market access and streamlined but resilient logistics from factory floor to customer door.”

Besides managing the flow of trade through its ports and terminals, Hilton said the company is currently in a stronger position to offer a more comprehensive suite of logistics services.

DP World’s full range of logistics services include order and origin management, port handling and freight management for ocean and air, including destination services like customs clearance and bonded warehousing.

Other value-added services offered include embedded trade finance, commodity-specific services, cars in containers, transload, and advanced hubs.

All services can be accessed via a single digital window backed by an integrated Global Services Center manned by more than 500 IT specialists.

Besides widening its APAC freight forwarding network, DP World also strengthened its capabilities in other areas, including:

  • Its $50-million investment to develop DP World Busan Logistics Center in Busan New Port;
  • Acquisition of Savan Logistics, operator of Savannakhet dry port located in Laos; and
  • Introduction of daily rail service connecting Sydney’s Port Botany to Yennora Intermodal Terminal in New South Wales.
