The Department of Trade and Industry-Supply Chain and Logistics Group (DTI-SCLG) is eyeing to collaborate with the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) for the upcoming second phase of its streamlining project for the logistics sector.
In a meeting on May 2, DTI-SCLG endorsed their findings from the first phase of the Logistics Services Philippines (LSPH) and formally requested ARTA’s collaboration for the upcoming LSPH Streamlining Project – Phase 2, the authority said in a social media post.
The LSPH initiative, led by the DTI-SCLG and supported by the Board of Investments, aims to enhance the global competitiveness of the Philippines’ logistics sector. The LSPH Streamlining Project – Phase 1, launched in 2021, identified regulatory hurdles in six key logistics sub-sectors.
The LSPH Streamlining Project – Phase 2 will focus on actual streamlining of regulatory procedures and the adoption of automation to reduce compliance costs and improve logistics efficiency.
As one of its efforts in the LSPH Streamlining Project – Phase 2, DTI-SCLG partnered with the Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc. to identify areas for improvement in their industry and requested ARTA to join and support the initiative.
In addition, the meeting also discussed the DTI-SCLG’s endorsement of Philippine Chamber of Food Manufacturers, Inc. as a possible ARTA Champion.
An ARTA Champion is a designated organization that ARTA supports to further the agency’s mission of promoting ease of doing business and reducing red tape.
ARTA said it continues to champion a whole-of-government approach to achieve fast and efficient government services, aiming to remove obstacles to the movement of goods for the betterment of the economy.
The meeting included ARTA deputy director general for operations Gerald Divinagracia and the Better Regulation Office Sectoral Division C, which handles ARTA’s logistics efforts. DTI representatives, meanwhile, included SCLG undersecretary Mary Jean Pacheco and SCLG division chief Jonathan Cabaltera.
