Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) partnered with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to equip Philippine textile micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with practical skills to expand into international markets.

The collaboration culminated in the FedEx Masterclass for Philippine textile MSMEs, held on December 3 in Taytay, Rizal, and attended by 33 participating businesses.

The learning sessions drew on FedEx’s global logistics expertise, covering import and export fundamentals such as preparing air waybills, meeting documentation requirements, proper packing of textile shipments, and end-to-end shipment tracking.

The Philippine textile sector continues to play a significant role in the country’s trade profile.

In 2024, the Philippines exported $892 million worth of textiles, ranking 13th among the country’s 22 export categories, with major markets including the United States, Japan, China, South Korea, and the United Kingdom. In the same year, textile imports reached $2.18 billion, also ranking 13th, sourced mainly from China, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.

“Our collaboration with DTI amplifies our ability to support Filipino businesses,” Maribeth Espinosa, managing director of FedEx Philippines, said in an emailed press release. “By sharing our logistics expertise and global network, we make international trade simpler and more accessible.”

“This goes beyond delivering shipments, it is about opening avenues, nurturing ambitions, and ensuring that even the smallest businesses have the opportunity to grow beyond borders. We are committed to turning the promise of global trade into meaningful progress for Filipino MSMEs across the country,” said Espinosa.

FedEx has worked with DTI over the years on programs aimed at helping local enterprises access global trade opportunities. The express transportation company said the latest masterclass marks another step in its broader effort to empower MSMEs and support inclusive economic growth in the Philippines.
