Federal Express Corp. (FedEx) has launched a new digital tool aimed to simplify the import process for customers by enabling seamless collaboration during airway bill (AWB) creation between importers and shippers.

FedEx’s Collaborative Shipping Tool (CST) allows importers to share the AWB creation process directly with shippers, enabling them to confirm shipment details and schedule pickups based on their readiness.

This collaborative feature is designed to improve the success rate of shipment pickups, ensuring greater efficiency in the import journey, the express transportation company said in a statement.

“The Philippines is a key market for FedEx, and we are committed to supporting businesses here with innovative solutions that address their unique challenges,” FedEx Philippines managing director Maribeth Espinosa said.

“The Collaborative Shipping Tool is a game-changer for importers, offering greater transparency, efficiency, and control over their supply chains,” Espinosa added.

FedEx noted that global merchandise trade is set to increase by 3%, with imports in Asia projected to grow by 5.1% in 2025. According to a study by the International Trade Centre, failed pickups and lack of shipment visibility are among the top challenges faced by importers globally. Such inefficiencies directly impact business operations, underscoring the need for digital solutions like the CST.

With the CST, FedEx said one key benefit is improved visibility as importers gain real-time insights into the pickup process, ensuring greater transparency and control over their shipments. The tool is also designed to be simple and intuitive, making the import process easier and more efficient for both importers and shippers.

The CST is available to all FedEx import customers in Asia Pacific, Europe, United States, Canada, Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and Africa.

FedEx said CST complements its other digital solutions, including the FedEx Import Tool, which, however, has not yet been launched in the Philippines. Once launched, the FedEx Import Tool will provide customers with a comprehensive suite of options to simplify and manage their import shipments.

Aside from CST, FedEx early this year also expanded its International Connect Plus, its international, day-definite e-commerce service, to the Philippines.

FedEx said these innovations demonstrate its commitment of enhancing the import experience and improving overall logistics efficiency for its customers.
