The International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) launched a container packing app aimed at improving safety and compliance of container packing operations in the global logistics industry.
The FIATA Container Packing App, unveiled during the 2025 FIATA-Region Asia-Pacific Field Meeting, is now available for download on Android and Apple devices. It offers step-by-step packing guidance, visual safety checklists, and practical tools to reduce cargo damage and operational risk, FIATA said in a statement.
FIATA said the initiative addresses a persistent issue in global logistics—improper cargo packing inside containers, which remains a leading cause of accidents and supply chain disruptions.
“By placing global best practices directly into the hands of freight forwarders, loaders, and warehouse teams, the app promotes standardization and enhances safety in container packing worldwide,” said Tej Contractor, Chair of FIATA’s Advisory Body on Information Technology.
The app translates complex safety requirements into accessible, mobile-ready content usable on loading sites, warehouses, or in transit. It includes downloadable visual checklists aligned with international safety protocols and compliance recommendations.
FIATA Director General Stéphane Graber said the app is part of the federation’s broader digitalization agenda to support operational safety and efficiency.
“This app represents a major leap forward in making safety and compliance easier to manage for those working in the logistics and transportation sectors,” Graber said.
The mobile tool is intended for use by freight forwarders, warehouse operators, and other logistics stakeholders involved in cargo handling. FIATA is urging industry players to adopt the tool as part of routine operations to mitigate common packing errors and promote global standards.
The Geneva-based FIATA represents over 40,000 freight forwarding and logistics companies across more than 150 countries.
