Fire broke out at the parking extension area of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on April 22, affecting 19 vehicles.

There were no reported injuries or casualties, and flight operations across all four NAIA terminals were unaffected, according to the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA).

Initial reports suggest the fire, which began at 1:28pm and declared fire out by 1:57pm, may have started from a grass fire.

The MIAA’s Rescue and Firefighting Division is currently conducting mopping operations and investigating the cause of the incident.

In an interview with TeleRadyo Serbisyo, MIAA general manager Eric Ines assured the public that the fire, which occurred in a vacant parking lot area, did not disrupt airport operations.

“This is around 300 meters away from the terminal, in a vacant lot that a concessionaire was using as a parking lot. No operations were affected,” he said in Filipino.
