The first eight-car train set for the Philippine National Railways (PNR) Clark Phase 1 project recently arrived from Japan, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said in a statement.

A second delivery is expected in the second quarter of 2022.

The train set is now at the Port of Manila undergoing customs clearance. Once cleared, it will be brought to the Malanday Depot in Valenzuela next month.

The second delivery will be in the second quarter of 2022.

The delivery is part of 13 train sets which DOTr purchased from Japan Transport Engineering Company and Sumitomo Corporation for the Manila-Clark railway project.

The train sets passed the Factory Acceptance Test at the J-TREC Factory in Japan in October.

Once operational, the PNR Clark Phase 1 project will connect Tutuban and Malolos, Bulacan in 35 minutes from the current one hour and 30 minutes and will serve 300,000 commuters.
