International air cargo and mail traffic rose 7.2% to 224.897 kilograms in the first half of 2025 from 209.87 million kg in the same period last year, according to data from the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB).

Of the total, incoming air cargo and mail traffic handled by 40 passenger and cargo airlines with services in the Philippines accounted for a 55.6% share or 125.011 million kg, up 14% from 109.73 million kg in the first half of 2024.

Outgoing traffic, on the other hand, slightly dropped by 0.3% to 99.886 million kg from 100.141 million kg last year.

Flag carrier Philippine Airlines handled the biggest volume during the period with 39.281 million kg or a share of 17.5% of the total.

Low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific came in second with 33.078 million kg or 14.7% of the total.

Taiwanese carrier EVA Air placed third with a 5.6% share or 12.611 million kg, followed closely in fourth by Hong Kong flag carrier Cathay Pacific with a 5.3% share or 11.835 million kg.

In fifth place was shipping and logistics service provider United Parcel Service (UPS) with 11.171 million kg or 5% share, while cargo airline Air Hong Kong ranked sixth with 10.697 million kg or 4.8% share.

United Arab Emirates flag carrier Emirates flew 10.139 million during the period or a 4.5% share, placing seventh, followed by transportation, e-commerce, and business services provider FedEx in eighth with a 4.4% share or 9.916 million kg.

Ranking ninth was flag carrier Singapore Airlines with 9.658 million kg or a share of 4.3%, while another flag carrier, Qatar Airways, placed 10th with 8.001 million kg or a share of 3.6%.

  • Kuwait Airways (1.443 million kg)
  • Malaysia Airlines (1.288 million kg)
