Goods traded domestically in Q4 2025 valued at P563B

  • The country’s domestic trade reached 9.85 million tons amounting to P562.76 billion in the fourth quarter of 2025
  • Commodities traded through road transport dominated with 5.41 million tons or 54.9% of total volume, and P324.36 billion of total value
  • 44 million tons of the total were traded through water transport while 5,674.91 tons or 0.1% were traded through air
  • CALABARZON was the region with the highest outflow and most favorable trade balance both in volume and value

The country’s domestic trade reached 9.85 million tons amounting to P562.76 billion in the fourth quarter of 2025, according to preliminary data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Of the total volume, 5.41 million tons of domestic commodities or 54.9% were traded through road transport, followed by water transport accounting for 4.44 million tons or 45%, and air transport with 5,674.91 tons or 0.1%.

PSA noted that the preliminary report on domestic trade for the fourth quarter of 2025 is not comparable with that of the same quarter in 2024 (6.58 million tons) as previous reports did not include movement through road transport. Road transport was only included beginning 2025.

For water transport though, the fourth quarter 2025 figure of 4.44 million tons was a 32.5% decline from the 6.57 million tons recorded volume in the same quarter of 2024.

Commodities traded through air transport likewise dropped 13.3% to 5,674.91 tons from  6,541.83 tons in the fourth quarter of 2024.

In terms of value, commodities traded through road transport accounted for the biggest share of P324.36 bilion.

Those traded through water reached P238.04 billion, down 12.8% from the P272.88 billion registered in the fourth quarter of 2024.

The value of commodities traded by air, on the other hand, increased 0.4% to P363 million from P361 million.

Among the regions, Cavite-Laguna-Batangas-Rizal-Quezon (CALABARZON) registered the highest outflow volume of 3.37 million tons or 34.2% to the total in the fourth quarter of 2025. The National Capital Region (NCR) followed with 1.59 million tons (16.2%) and Central Visayas with 1.09 million tons (11.1%).

Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), on the other hand, recorded the lowest outflow volume of 0.01 million tons (0.1%) during the period.

NCR, meanwhile, posted the highest inflow volume at 2.21 million tons or a share of 22.4%, followed by CALBARZON with 1.49 million tons (15.1%), and Northern Mindanao with 1.04 million tons (10.5%).

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) had the lowest inflow volume during the period with 0.03 million tons (0.3%).

The top regions with the most favorable trade balance in terms of volume were CALABARZON, Eastern Visayas, and Central Visayas. The regions with negative trade balances in terms of volume, meanwhile, were Central Luzon, NCR, and Zamboanga Peninsula.

In terms of value, CALABARZON again has the highest outflow value of P193.43 billion or 34.4% share of the total. NCR also again followed with P115.51 billion (20.5%), and then Northern Mindanao with P51.90 billion (9.2%) worth of traded commodities.

Zamboanga Peninsula had the lowest outflow value of P1.63 billion (0.3%) during the period.

Similar to volume, the same regions had the highest inflow in terms of value: NCR with P149.83 billion (26.6%); CALABARZON with P83.12 billion (14.8%); and Northern Mindanao with P58.52 billion (10.4%).

CAR also recorded the lowest inflow value, which amounted to P1.20 billion (0.2%).

The top three regions with favorable domestic trade balances in terms of value in the fourth quarter of were CALABARZON, Eastern Visayas, and Negros Island Region, while the three with the negative trade balances were NCR, Davao Region, and Western Visayas.
