Gothong Southern, Aljay Agro-Industrial enter supply chain partnership
  • The collaboration begins with the creation of a dedicated smart warehouse for Aljay Agro-Industrial in Plaridel, Bulacan that will become its Luzon hub
  • The warehouse is scheduled to be operational by the third quarter of 2025

Gothong Southern Shipping Lines, Inc. is providing Aljay Agro-Industrial Solutions, Inc. an integrated and tech-enabled suite of supply chain services from procurement to final delivery.

The companies signed a memorandum of agreement on May 5. Under the MOA, Gothong Southern will manage the end-to-end supply chain needs of the Isabela-based agricultural inputs and solutions provider.

Services include sea freight, inland transport, full container load, less than container load, freight forwarding, cold chain, warehousing, project logistics, roll-on/roll-off and trucking, reverse logistics, last-mile delivery, order fulfillment, and sustainability solutions.

At the sidelines of the signing, Gothong Southern chief commercial officer Albert Doceo told PortCalls the partnership frees up Aljay to focus on its core business.

Doceo noted that both organizations share the same vision of wanting to help farmers and and to enhance food security.

In a separate statement, he said: “This partnership reflects Gothong Southern’s commitment to empowering Filipino industries through seamless logistics, innovative technology, and customer-focused solutions.

“We are honored to partner with Aljay to support their mission of enhancing agricultural productivity across the country.”

For his part, Aljay president and chief operating officer Kris Kristoffer Alejandro said, “With Gothong Southern as our logistics and business solutions partner, we are taking a transformative step toward strengthening our supply chain and expanding our reach. This collaboration will allow us to deliver smarter, faster, and more sustainably to the farmers we serve.”

Aside from the potential cost savings Gothong Southern can generate for Aljay as a result of addressing supply chain bottlenecks, Alejandro told PortCalls he is excited for the agility and scalability the partnership can bring, enabling Aljay to be more aggressive and further expand its business.

The collaboration begins with the creation of a dedicated smart warehouse for Aljay to support nationwide agricultural distribution. The facility, located inside Jolly Industrial Park in Plaridel, Bulacan, will incorporate advanced warehouse management systems, real-time tracking, data analytics, and value-added services such as custom packing and eco-friendly packaging, aligning with both companies’ sustainability goals.

The Bulacan warehouse can accommodate 120,000 sacks of products and is envisioned to become Aljay’s Luzon hub given its proximity to major highways and ports.

Alejandro said the warehouse will handle animal feeds, fertilizers for crops like rice and corn, high-value crops, pesticides, crop protection products, and organic fertilizers.

It is scheduled to be operational by the third quarter of 2025, initially serving Luzon.

Aside from warehouse management, the partnership includes the development of an e-commerce platform for Aljay products to reach more customers. – Roumina Pablo
