German ocean box liner Hapag-Lloyd said it will increase freight rates for its East Asia shipments effective November and December.

An additional US$650 per 20-foot equivalent unit (TEU) will be imposed effective November 15 for all cargoes and container types from East Asia, the Indian Sub-Continent, and the Middle East to the East Coast of South America. The rate increase is $650 per TEU.

From December 1, rates for all cargoes and container types from East Asia to the Caribbean, East Coast Central America, and Panama will be raised by $700 per TEU and $1,000 per 40-foot container.

Also on December 1, Hapag-Lloyd will hike rates for all cargoes and container types from East Asia to Mexico, West Coast of Central America, and West Coast of South America by $500 per TEU.
